New Site: QubaVR.com

As my focus shifted away from flat media and towards 360° and Virtual Reality content, the updates to QubaHQ became more and more sparse. Today it is my pleasure to introduce to you my brand new website: QubaVR.com. It will be a home to all my newest projects, my VR-focussed portfolio and a host of articles, reviews and editorials on the subject of immersive media.

Prismatic: 360° VR Animation

Prismatic is my first independent project since I have left my position as Creative Director at Autofuss and Google a few weeks ago. It has begun its existence as a proof-of-concept animatic for a larger, practical set I am currently developing. Soon though, it took life on its own and became a self-standing animation I am happy to share with you today.

The Making of Prismatic

If you haven’t yet seen Prismatic, strap on your virtual reality goggles and go check it out here. The rest of the article will make much more sense this way. In chapter 2 I walk you though the creation of rain simulation using Trapcode Particular. The final, 3rd chapter focuses on compositing these elements together to create the final look.

Dance Central 2: Dance 2gether (oldie!)

A few years ago, I have been commissioned by a LA-based production company g-NET to create a post-production look and set of tools for this Dance Central ad. I have completed the assignment and as a part of the process built a cool After Effects Expression for controlling the playback of videos on multiple layers. I will most likely make a tutorial for it as a part of QHQ Tutorials Season 2.

Nexus Q: Lights (cancelled)

You may remember a cool media device named Nexus Q created by Google in 2012 and subsequently removed from sale. At Autofuss we created quite a few pieces for the launch of the device that never ended seeing the light of day.

Here is a set of boards I created for one of the spots.
