Preset+Tutorial: Stop Motion Kit

This preset and tutorial have been inspired by true events …or to be precise – they are based on a project I did a short while ago.

In this tutorial I will show you how to quickly simulate stop motion aesthetic using my After Effects Stop Motion Kit. This collection of presets will allow you to easily add subtle imperfections to the movement of objects in your scene, emulating animator errors that are a staple of stop motion animation. Using 6 different expression sets, you will be able to apply and control glitches in movement, rotation and timing of your objects as well as simulate changes in camera position and exposure.

Running time: 37min
Difficulty: Easy
Required tools: After Effects

Textorizer: Typographer’s Dream Continues

Textorizer will then read the color information from your image and create a typographic mosaic using the text and typeface you selected. The mosaic will be saved in either PNG or SVG format.

Wordle: Typographer’s Dream

I just came across a website named Wordle. It is a host to an absolutely awesome Java applet which takes a set of keywords and generates a collage out of them in around a second. You can either copy-paste the text yourself, let the applet analyze a web address, a RSS feed or even tags of a del.icio.us user.

Photoshop Action: Image to Stencil

Working in Photoshop I often find myself in need to turn an image into a stencil – to remove all the white areas and turn them into transparency. While doing so is not technically very difficult, repeating the same set of commands over and over can get quite tedious on larger projects.

That is why I constructed this simple Photoshop action, which I am now sharing with you. It will allow you to turn grayscale or full-color image into a stencil in just one click.
