Art out of Trash out of Design out of Art

Now, that’s some recycling! Recently, with the introduction of helloimago.com we have designed some new business cards for the studio. While the front of the cards is always the same, we designed over 40 different variations of the reverse, using the letter “o” from our logo and Cigdem’s paintings to create a series of colorful, abstract visuals.

As usual, we used Moo.com to do the prints. Unfortunately we were not aware that they have recently changed they paper stock and ended up with a large box full of cards we did not want to use. (Just to make things clear, we ordered another batch, printed on another paper and these turned out fantastic!)

While the prints were useless as business cards, it would be the shame to simply throw them away – using a spray mount, some cardboard and an old IKEA frame I decided to put them together as a collage. You can see the result after the break.

Wings: Destinations

Destinations was the first advertisement commissioned to us by Rafineri agency.

Originally planned as a simple 2.5D animation, the project was soon moved into a 3D format to enhance the feeling of flight and the depth of the world we constructed. We placed flat photographic images of world’s famous landmarks in a 3D landscape divided into four sections – representing the four seasons.

Shop&Miles: The Original Mix

This project is more of an exercise in editing, rather than your typical motion graphics. It was commisioned by Alametifarika for the launch of a new double credit card service of Garanti’s Shop&Miles.

The video features various stock clips synchronized with the music – each clip has its corresponding audio fragment. As the audio clips get mixed together, so do the videos.

Bici Bee #50: Bees and Flowers

You know that story we tell to little kids? Why not give them a full picture?

Flexi: Custom Design

This ad continues the series started in our other project: “Flexi: Lifestyle Cards”. While the original four spots advertised preset cards, this one focuses on the ability of customizing the design of the card by the user.

With the scenario, music and voiceover already in place, we were approached to create an animation visually demonstrating different options available to the user after uploading their custom image to the Flexi website.

Flexi: Lifestyle Cards

This is our first project with Alametifarika. It advertises Flexi Card’s new system, through which credit card owners can easily customize their cards using preset keywords sent to the bank via text message.

The packages are designed for: frequent flyers, fashion enthusiasts, drivers and mobile phone users. Four new card designs were introduced to accompany this new service.

0506

This piece is a combination of things past and things present – an appropriate approach for a holiday video released around Christmas.

The visuals, created by Çiğdem Keresteci are inspired by Seljuk and Ottoman miniatures, re-interpreted using modern design tools and techniques. The music is a SID-chip (Commodore 64) adaptation of themes from compositions of J.S.Bach.
