Bowerbirds: July

For the July Bowerbirds clip, I decided to try something new. I created a realistic model of the Moon, based on the elevation maps gathered by NASA and animated the illumination phases as the light (the Sun) traveled around in. Having been recently turned onto the Mystery Science Theater 3000 by Conor, I then stylized it to look and feel like a stop motion project from the early days of Sci-Fi. (Yes, Stop Motion Kit was helpful). A bit of chromatic aberration didn’t hurt, either.

Conor then took over the project, introducing a bunch of cool light leaks, better camera animation and other tweaks to make the whole thing feel nice and contemporary. Final result: below.
